outreach week 4

March 8th, 2011 No comments

So, outreach began with us not being able to go up to Darjeeling for a few days because of some local political tension, so we had to stay three hours away in a town called Siliguri. While there, we stayed at the YWAM house there and we were able to hook up with some local churches and do some village outreaches around the area. Eventually we were able to make it up to Darj. We were only there for a few days because we then went to another village about four hours away. We helped the local church do a “concert”, some preaching in the mountains, and even shared at night and daytime services. The schedule was pretty lax considering, but I did get in a good leg workout which is nice because I am feeling a little fluffy around the midriff if you don’t mind my slang. We were there for about 10 days, then we went to another nearby town and did a few church services there. We arrived yesterday and we have all been settling in and some of us are getting ready to leave again tomorrow for another village/town outreach. Our group is splitting up in half. One half will remain in Darj and do some art projects that are lined up. I know the artists are excited, and the rest of us will be leaving for a week. Anyways, that is a brief summary of what is going on. Please continue to support us in prayer and thank you all for what you have already done. Blessings!

one day before outreach

February 13th, 2011 No comments

Hey all, one last day before we leave for India! We have been cleaning and packing in preparation and we are all very busy. Anyways, I will have limited internet access while in India, so I’m not sure how often I will be able to place updates. We have a team website as well, the address is www.ywamteamindia.tumblr.com. We also have something that allows you to sign up for a particular day to pray for us. The address for that is http://www.doodle.com/e2a4a98fp845ppx2. Thank you all so much for your support and prayers, and I will try to update you as soon as possible

one week before outreach!

February 6th, 2011 No comments

Hey all! I just wanted to let you know that we only have one week until we leave for outreach. For those of you who have just joined on, I will be leaving for Darjeeling, India for seven months. Our team has one guy leader and twelve students. We have grown closer together as a team these last few weeks and we are learning more and more how to function as a team. We underwent a day of missions simulation. Sleeping under a tarp, not knowing what we were going to do next, eating with our hands, practicing hardnosed airport scenarios. It was a great learning experience for our whole team. On the note of our team I would ask if you could continue to pray for us to walk in unity with one another and for us to walk in our roles in the team. We have a very strong team, but we are nothing if we are not acting as one. This last week we had lectures on missions, unity and stewardship. I didn’t really learn anything new, but it was refreshing to hear some perspective on these issues. It is very easy to forget the simplest of things. God has been personally teaching me the value of wisdom. I don’t really know why, but I am fascinated with the concept of wisdom, and seemingly how similar wisdom is with the Spirit of God. I just know that I over spiritualized a lot of things because I felt a pressure to, but I now know that I am a very practical person and that is okay. I am still on a journey of processing all the things going on in my head, but I have a great sense of excitement for what God is going to show me in the future and particularly on outreach. Anyways, I would also ask you to pray for our India dance team, as we are only four people, that God would use us powerfully. That we as a whole team would lift up the name of Jesus and have Him as our focus. Thank you so much for your prayers and support. May God continue to bless you! Love, Kody

Week 11

January 23rd, 2011 No comments

Hello everyone! These last few weeks have been absolutely amazing. We went on a two week outreach a few weeks ago and the Lord taught me so much. We grew closer in our outreach teams, and I learned the value of working in a team. I realized that I am very independent and try to do things on my own when there are some things that just aren’t meant to be done alone, and are much more effective when you work as a team. The Lord began to show me my place in the team and how I can fulfill that, even now He is showing me what I need to be doing. I learned the obvious-I can’t do everything, but I can help other people to be all that they can be and in turn get a lot more done. I am also learning how to not take myself so serious and to relax a bit more. It has helped a lot and I find myself enjaying life a lot more. This last week of lectures we learned about the heart of worship. For me there wasn’t a lot of new information, but it was fresh. It helped me because so much of our teachings are just full of knowledge and it is easy to get proud and puffed up from having a lot of knowledge and no output, but worship reminded me that I can have an output of worship and giving back to God all the things that He has given to me. We also had a 24 hour worship session towards the end of the week which was so good. I was able to give it all to God and feel utterly spent at the end. Anyway, thank you all for your prayers and if you could keep team India in your prayers and our dance team, that would be great. May God continue to bless you all. Love,
Kody

week 8

December 20th, 2010 No comments

Hey all!
This week we had Grant Windle, a local pastor give us our lecture on the Holy Spirit. His lectures were actually more about our design and function as humans, and how the Holy Spirit empowers us to run as we were originally designed to run. He was very insightful and I got a lot of revelation from him. I learned that I don’t need to over-spiritualize everything because we are three seperate yet unified parts that are unique in their design and function. The body, the soul and the spirit. In salvation our spirit is reborn, and then begins the process of transforming the soul into unison with the spirit. The spirit hears from the Lord, and then the soul agrees with it, and then is acted out with the body. We are meant to live from the inside out. These are the kinds of things we learned from the lectures.
The last few days of the week, we did what we call “faith day”, which is when we break up into our outreach groups and pray about what we are to do for the day. The first day we went into the city and we sat in the grass and played music and did art. A few of us went on a prayer walk, and some stayed behind and did their art. I was on a prayer walk with another girl, and we met a guy who was a christian and had prayed that morning to meet other christians who were passionate about God. We prayed for him and talked, and we walked away so encouraged and amazed that the Lord would use us in that way. The next day we wrote encouragements to the staff and did small acts of service around the base. This last week was so good, and I am learning so much. Thank you all for your prayers! If you could continue to pray for our dance group and our outreach to India, it would be much appreciated. Love you guys!

week 6- I think

December 6th, 2010 1 comment

Hello everyone! I know it has been a while since my last update, so I thank you all for your patience. These last few weeks have been so awesome and challenging for me. I last left off on hearing the voice of God, which was amazing and I learned so much on communication and how it works between not only other people but with God. We then went on with lectures on evangelism which were very inspiring and encouraging. We so often put sharing our faith into a box and we tend to use formulas and techniques to reach people which aren’t necessarily bad, but are not always the most effective way to share Jesus with someone. We only had a few days of these lectures because we then traveled to Airlie Beach which is 16 hours north of our base. The purpose of the trip was to minister to “schoolies” which are graduation high schoolers that party for a week straight. This is a thing that happens all across Australia.
Our team set up a large tent and we provided a safe place where they could come and hang out and engage in meaningful conversation while enjoying chai tea and slushies. My specific team was mainly involved in prayer and intercession which was such a blessing. The Lord showed me so much during those times. Our group also did a few of our dances while there which was very challenging due to the amount of spiritual warfare going on. Anyways, when we came back, our lecture was on relationships. These lectures were so eye opening and helpful to all of us. The speaker (on DVD) not only spoke on relationships of the opposite sex, but how to relate in general and how the whole of christianity is based on being a good relator. I am still processing this information, but I have also put it into practice with some of my fellow brothers and sisters which has been such a blessing. The Lord has been showing me so much about Himself, life and others and I am so excited for what this week has to offer. Thank you so much for your prayers. Oh, and please be praying for my team that is going to India, there are a few people that don’t have their funds to go. I would also like prayer for perseverance in dance. We are dancing a lot, and I don’t want to miss the heart of dancing, so any prayers would be much appreciated. Thank you so much again!

week 3 starts

November 10th, 2010 No comments

Hello all,
Yesterday began the first day of our third week of lectures. This week we are learning about hearing the voice of God and the different ways He communicates with us. Our speaker is our school leader Jason Solari. He studied communication in college, so He is bringing some interesting points in our relationships with not only God but other people. I am really enjoying his approach, and it is very challenging. One of the things the Lord is challenging me to go deeper in is what true love looks like, and I feel that He wants to show me what it is. Many of my current views are being challenged and the Lord is definitely doing some molding in my life, some of which is painful, but good nonetheless. Thank you so much for all your prayers. Also, we learned our outreach locations. There are six to choose from, so if you could pray for me in regards to guidance, it would be much appreciated.
Love,
Kody

Week 2

November 6th, 2010 No comments

What a great week. Our speaker was Ken Helser, a delightful man in his sixties that was absolutely filled to the brim with the Holy Spirit. He was teaching on the Father Heart of God, and he inspired so many of us to go deeper in our relationship with God and he gave us practical ways to do so. He is a very talented musician and artist, so being in an arsty school, we all connected with him very well. We are very sad to see him leave. This man left a huge impression on me, but more importantly, the Holy Spirit did. Please pray that I will start new habits for the better and grow more passionate in my relationship with the Lord. Many thanks to you all and God bless!
